What are you waiting for?
A BIG thank you to everyone that took part Transplant Week 2011 – it couldn’t have happened without you.
This year’s theme, ‘What are you waiting for?’ aimed to highlight the anxious and uncertain wait by patients needing an organ transplant.
To bring the campaign to life, we toured six cities across the UK, providing live entertainment to people whilst they waited for everyday things such as the bus or their morning coffee, all the time encouraging people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
Meet Ian, who had to prepare for the 'worst moment' of his life
It's never too late to get involved
Over 7,500 people in the UK are currently waiting for an organ transplant and furthermore, on average, 3 people who need a transplant die every day whilst they wait.
These statistics can be reduced by increasing the number of people on the NHS Organ Donor Register.
Although our campaign for Transplant Week 2011 has come to an end, if you didn’t manage to sign up, it’s not too late to do so today.
